Forward to begin professional career with Blaze
The Bloomington Blaze, fueled by Mid-Illini Credit Union, have added a rookie forward as training camp nears.
Kevin Undershute joins the Blaze camp after completing a four-year career at St. Francis Xavier University in Nova Scotia last season. In 111 games, Undershute registered 33 goals and 46 assists for 79 points in his university career. He played most of his junior hockey in his home town of Medicine Hat, Alberta, recording season highs of 20 goals and 27 assists for 47 points in his second campaign which resulted in a Western Hockey League championship. The 25-year-old left wing is six feet tall and weighs 175 pounds.
“Kevin is a good two-way forward who can provide versatility to play in many situations,” said Blaze coach Brian Gratz. “He is ready to make the jump to the pro level and contribute right away.”
The Blaze have announced two exhibition games to be played against the Quad City Mallards during the weekend before the regular season opener. The Blaze will host a 7:05 p.m. match against the Flock on Friday, October 12 at U.S. Cellular Coliseum before traveling to Moline, Illinois on the following night. The Blaze open the 2012-13 season at home against the Rapid City Rush on Friday, October 19 and Saturday, October 20.
