(RiverKings Press Release) The Central Hockey League has notified the Memphis RiverKings that center Travis Banga will replace defenseman Jason Tessier at Wednesdays All Star Game in Bossier City, LA. Tessier had been selected to play as a Northern Conference reserve, but will be unable to participate due to an injury he suffered in Friday nights home win over Colorado.
The circumstances that set this up are unfortunate, Banga said of Tessiers injury. It will be an honor to represent the RiverKings organization and I am looking forward to playing with the best the CHL has to offer.
Banga, a native of High River, Alberta, leads the first place RiverKings with 19 goals and 41 points. He was the Oakley CHL Player of the Week two weeks ago when he had three goals and five assists in three games. He has also collected at least one point in 15 of the last 17 games. His 19 goals are tied for fourth in the CHL while his 41 points are tied for fifth most.
Banga joins defenseman Derek Landmesser and goalie Larry Sterling as the RiverKings All Star representatives. The 2007 CHL All-Star Game will be played Wednesday at the CenturyTel Center in Bossier City.
