The Arizona Sundogs are suddenly the hottest team in the Central Hockey League, winners of seven straight contests following a 3-2 shootout victory in New Mexico Wednesday night. The win moves the Sundogs into a tie with Amarillo in the Southwest Division, with both clubs just three points behind the Scorpions. Brent Kelly scored a pair of power play goals to become the CHLs first 40 goal scorer this season, and David Svagrovsky scored the game winner in the eighth round of the shootout. Mike Falk (23rd) and Mike Prpich (18th) responded for New Mexico.
Elsewhere Wednesday John DiPace scored his 11th and 12th goals of the season and added an assist as the Rocky Mountain Rage handled visiting Lubbock 5-2, damaging the Cotton Kings diminishing playoff hopes.
