The Colorado Eagles are the only club in the 2007 CHL playoffs to emerge undefeated after two contests, handling visiting Youngstown 7-4 while the top seeded Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs needed a 2-1 win in double overtime to earn a split against visiting Wichita.
Riley Nelson, Seth Leonard and Aaron Schneekloth all had three points in the victory for Colorado, with Greg Pankewicz also scoring his first two goals of the post-season. As with the series opener, the SteelHounds enjoyed an early lead but were unable to hold it. The series now shifts to Youngstown for Games 3,4 and 5 with the Hounds needing to win at least two of the three games to force a Game 6 back in Colorado.
Mudbugs Nation breathed a collective sigh of relief 5:42 into double overtime Saturday when Jason Williamson scored to avoid dropping their second straight home game to the upstart Wichita Thunder. Still, Wichita has to be pleased with the split as they head home for the next three games of the series beginning Wednesday night. Jon Horrell continued to impress in the Thunder nets with 55 saves, while John DeCaro made 37 stops in the Mudbugs net in his first playoff action.
Game 3 of the Memphis / Oklahoma City series, all tied up at 1-1, is Sunday at 4:05 PM central time.
