The Mississippi RiverKings (3-1-0) won their third game in four chances this season with an 8-3 victory on Tuesday night over the Tulsa Oilers (1-3-0). The win keeps the RiverKings within striking distance of the first place Youngstown SteelHounds (5-0-0) in the Northeast Division. The loss is the third straight for the Oilers.
Tulsa started the scoring in the first period with a power play goal by David Beauregard but Mississippi answered quickly scoring four straight goals before the Oilers could answer. The RiverKings put three goals up in each the second and third periods and goaltender Sebastien Centomo made light work of the Oilers seeing just 18 shots and turning aside 15 of them.
Steve Slonina paced the offense for the RiverKings scoring a pair of goals and Chad Woollard and Derek Landmesser each notched a pair of assists. The RiverKings finished outshooting the Oilers 47-18 including 32-11 over the last two periods.
