OAKLEY CENTRAL HOCKEY LEAGUE GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK ANNOUNCED
The Central Hockey League announced today that the recipient for the Oakley CHL Goaltender of the Week for the period ending November 25th, 2007 is John DeCaro of the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs.
DeCaro posted a pair of victories last week including a 2-1 win at home versus Corpus Christi on November 20th and a 4-2 road victory on November 24th against one of the CHL’s top teams, the Youngstown SteelHounds. In the two games, the Marysville, Washington native turned away 50 of 53 shots (.943). The 6-3, 217-pound goaltender has won five straight games after starting the season 0-3-1. During his personal five-game win streak, DeCaro has allowed just four goals and has stopped 97 percent of the shots he has faced. For the season, the 2006-07 Scott Brower Award Winner (Most Outstanding Goaltender) is 5-3-1 with a 1.88 goals against average (third in the CHL) and a .930 save percentage (second in the CHL).
In recognition of his achievement, DeCaro will receive a special gift from Oakley.
