Shutout Tuesday
The CHL had three games on Tuesday night and all three were decided by outstanding goaltending efforts. The Laredo Bucks defeated the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees for the fourth consecutive time and won their third straight game overall. The Tulsa Oilers won back-to-back games for the first time this season with a 4-0 victory over Odessa and the Mississippi RiverKings won their fifth straight game with a 3-0 victory over Wichita.
Laredo (14-3-1) used 25 saves by Dustin Traylen who earned his league-leading third shutout of the season to defeat the Killer Bees, 5-0. With the win the Bucks take over the CHL lead with 29 points (Youngstown has 27 points). Andrew Desjardins scored a pair of goals and Jeff Bes had a pair of assists moving his league-leading point total to 34 (14-20=34).
Tulsa (5-9-0) won the first game of a season-long seven-game home stand against the point-collecting Jackalopes (the loss ends their five-game point streak (2-0-3). David Beauregard netted a hat trick for the Oilers and Jeff Christian had a pair of assists. Chalmers earned his first professional shutout and improved his record to 3-1-0.
Mississippi (12-3-0) used 21 saves from Sebastien Centomo to earn his second shutout of the season and improve his record to 8-2-0. The RiverKings had three different players score goals (Ryan Held, Ryan Campbell and Aaron Davis) and with the win pull to within three points of the Northeast Division leading Youngstown SteelHounds.
