Bees, Scorpions Battle for Blood

BEES, SCORPIONS BATTLE FOR BLOOD

Hidalgo, Texas --- The Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees of the Central Hockey League and United Blood Services of the Rio Grande Valley have been challenged by United Blood Services of New Mexico and the New Mexico Scorpions to bring in the most donors between December 1, 2007, through January 12, 2008. This challenge comes at time when historically our communities experience blood shortages. The purpose of this event is to encourage the community to participate in a fun way and to give the best Holiday gift ever, the “Gift of Life”.

The Killer Bees and the Scorpions will play two times during the challenge; the first game will be on December 15, 2007 in New Mexico and the second game will be on January 12, 2008 at the Dodge Arena in Hidalgo, Texas. The first 360 donors that donate during this time at either the McAllen Center (located at 1312 Pecan Blvd.) or the Brownsville Center (located at 2370 Central Blvd.) will receive a voucher to attend the Killer Bee vs. Scorpions game on January 12, 2008. In addition they will also receive a special “Killer Bees” T-shirt.

Two jerseys and two hockey sticks signed by the RGV Killer Bees will be raffled on January 13, 2008. Every donor who donates at one of our two centers during this time will be entered in this raffle. Donors will also have a chance to meet some of the RGV Killer Bee Players and Mascot Sir-Sting-A-Lot on January 9, 2008, at the McAllen Center.

Make a commitment to stop by one of the United Blood Services Centers to donate blood, make history by donating more blood than our counterparts in New Mexico and come cheer on our RGV Killer Bees on January 12, 2008.
