Eagles Soar Over Sundogs for 13th Straight Win at Home
The Colorado Eagles (34-16-5) won their 13th straight home game and took over sole possession of first place in the Northwest Division for the first time this season as they knocked off the Arizona Sundogs (30-19-5) by a score of 4-2. The win pushes the Eagles two points ahead of Rocky Mountain in the division and keeps Arizona two points behind Odessa in the Southwest Division.

The Eagles were up 2-0 behind a first period goal from David Iannazzo and an early second period goal from Ed McGrane. Arizona’s Tyler Liebel made it 2-1 with a second period shorthanded goal but Greg Pankewicz would regain the two-goal advantage before the end of the period with the first of two goals on the night.
Chris Bartolone would make it 3-2 with a power play goal at the 9:15 mark of the final period but it was as close as the Sundogs would get as Pankewicz salted the win away for the Eagles with goal number two on the night.
Marco Emond was unable to gain the win in his return to Colorado where he helped the Eagles to the Ray Miron President’s Cup Championship last season. Sebastien Laplante made 27 saves improving to 8-4-0 since joining the Eagles (he is 18-15-0 on the season combining Wichita and Colorado).
Alex Leavitt assisted on both Sundogs goals giving him 93 points on the season (one shy of the CHL leader Jeff Bes of Laredo).
