The Central Hockey League has partnered with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) in an effort to promote increased vehicle safety through public awareness. The overall goal of the program is to increase safety belt usage rate by 8.4% for adults and 2% for children.
Police Officers will be working overtime issuing citations in an effort to reduce the number of injuries and fatalities on Texas Roadways. Studies have shown that the combination of media exposure and increased traffic enforcement is successful in increasing the occupant protection usage rates.
"We are extremely excited about partnering with the Central Hockey League and its Texas-based teams, giving us a great opportunity to reinforce the message of our statewide campaign to increase the safety belt and child safety seat usage," said Carley Arredondo of Sherry Mathews Advocacy Marketing, representing the Texas Department of Transportations Click It Or Ticket Program.
As part of the program established with the Central Hockey League, the Texas Department of Transportation will receive in-arena exposure and as well as 100 tickets for law enforcement use to a future game in each participating Texas CHL city.
We are very pleased to partner with the Texas Department of Transportation in their continued efforts to increase safety awareness and injury prevention throughout Texas, said Aaron Jackson, Marketing Manager for the Central Hockey League. We hope to significantly aid TxDOT in their objective of protecting the well being of all motorists.
The Central Hockey League is in its 12th season of play, with 17 current member teams (including the expansion Colorado Eagles and Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees) in eight states. Currently, the CHL leads all AA North American professional hockey leagues with a per- game average attendance of 4,201.
