The Central Hockey League has today announced the weekly recipients of the Bauer/Nike CHL Player of the Week and the Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the Week awards for Week 16 of the Central Hockey League season. Laredo defenseman / center Serge Dube scored four goals and added five assists in three Bucks contests this week to earn Bauer/Nike Player of the Week accolades, while New Mexico rookie netminder Miguel Beaudry had two outstanding winning performances to earn selection as the Vaughn Goaltender of the Week.
The versatile Dube has played both forward and defense for the CHL-leading Bucks, and came through with nine points in three games during the past week. He scored twice and added a pair of assists in a 7-3 home win over Corpus Christi January 28th, then added two more goals and an assist in a 6-2 win at San Angelo two nights later. To round off his week, he recorded two assists in a 4-3 overtime loss at New Mexico January 31st. Selected for the Southern Conference All-Star squad early in January, Dube is tied for 21st overall in CHL scoring this season with 46 points.
Beaudry, meanwhile, paced the Scorpions to back-to-back wins against division leaders Amarillo and Laredo over the weekend. The rookie goaltender turned aside 34 of 36 Amarillo shots (including 14 in the third period) in a 3-2 home victory January 30th, then stopped 42 of 45 shots the next night in a 4-3 overtime win against Laredo. The two wins evened Beaudrys season record at 10-10-1, and he currently ranks 20th in the CHL with a .912 save percentage and 21st in the circuit with a 2.92 goals against average. He recorded his first professional shutout on January 3rd, 2004.
