Brahmas Reach 90 Points
The Southeast Division winning Texas Brahmas flexed their muscles on Thursday night with a 5-0 win at Laredo versus the Bucks. The win temporarily kept Texas within reach of the Governors’ Cup, given to the CHL’s regular season champs but a win by Colorado later on Thursday eliminated the Brahmas from cup contention.
Texas/Laredo Box Score
Kevin McLeod scored the first of a pair of goals in the opening frame and it held up as the game winner. Scott Sheppard added a goal and two assists and Jason Deitsch scored a goal and contributed one helper. The other Brahmas goal was scored by Matt Quinn.
David Cacciola made 16 saves earning his second shutout of the season and improved his record to 13-6-1 on the season. He has won five straight starts.
Laredo clinched the third seed just 24 hours ago with a victor against Texas, but appeared to have jet-lag on Thursday in the re-match. The two teams could potentially meet again in the post-season.
