Community Focus - IceRays Hit the Street
With Summer in full swing, the Corpus Christi IceRays and the Corpus Christi Athletic Club are partnering to keep our young fans active in the community. Forwards Adam Powell and Justin Quenneville are helping with a Summer Camp that takes place every Thursday from 10-12pm at the Athletic Club. The IceRays are currently in preparation for the 2009-2010 season. Season tickets and corporate sponsorship packages are available. For more information please call the IceRays at 361.814.PUCK.
Every year the Corpus Christi Athletic Club holds a recreation camp during CCISD’s Summer Break. Each week is filled with exciting activities from hockey and backetball to swimming and arts and crafts. During Summer Camp, each week is themed with various guest speakers.
Adam Powell has enjoyed his experience so far. “It’s great to help out during the off season, keeping hockey fresh throughout the community,’ said Powell. “this is where we work out. The Club has always been great to us, so it’s nice to give back to them by helping out in the community.”
The camp is open to both members and non-members, ages 5-12 years old. One camper has loved her experience so far. “It’s so cool getting to meet the IceRays players, and playing with them is a lot of fun!” said Madelyn Gulvara, 9yrs.
Forward Justin Quenneville also agrees that the camp has been fun. “It’s always nice to be able to interact with children on hockey basics, and watch them play street hockey in South Texas. It’s becoming a big part of C.C.,” added Quenneville. “Anytime we can make the children of the community aware of hockey, I’m in.”
Corpus Christi IceRays hockey returns for a brand new season in October. Don’t miss a second of the fast-paced, hard-hitting action of IceRays hockey as they cool off the Coastal Bend.
