Both the Mississippi RiverKings and the Missouri Mavericks head into the Christmas break with big wins under their belts as the ‘Kings won on the road beating the Corpus Christi IceRays 5-3 and the Mavs topped the Laredo Bucks in a shootout, 6-5.
The win for the RiverKings comes two days after they blew a 3-1 lead to the RGV Killer Bees en route to a 7-3 loss. In Missouri, the Mavericks countered a Lance Monych hat trick to win in a shootout. The Mavs trailed two separate times in the game (1-0 and 4-3) but third period goals by Karl Sellan and newcomer Tommy Lange helped the cause and Andrew Davis scored his second shootout game winner of the season.
