Bucks Send Three to AHL Camps
LAREDO, TX- The Laredo Bucks of the Central Hockey League announced Friday that three players on their 2010-11 roster will attend American Hockey League training camps this season. Goaltender Pier Pelletier and forward Matt Robinson will attend Houston Aeros camp, while forward Hans Benson will attend Manitoba Moose camp.
Houston is the triple-A affiliate of the Minnesota Wild, while Manitoba is the top farm club of the Vancouver Canucks.
“It’s a great opportunity for these players to attend American League camps,” said Bucks President/General Manager and Head Coach Terry Ruskowski. “They will be playing with some of the best hockey players at that level and it will only improve their game.”
As a rookie last season the 23-year-old Pelletier (pronounced PELL-tea-eh) went 9-4-3 for the Bucks with a 2.88 G.A.A and a .915 sv.%, including finishing the regular season with an 11-game unbeaten streak (9-0-2). In the 2010 Playoffs Pelletier played in all seven games against Allen in the Southern Conference semifinals posting a 3-4 record with a 2.88 G.A.A and a .920 sv.%.
In his first four professional seasons the 25-year-old Robinson has put up a total of 144 points (74-70=144) in 194 games while spending time with three ECHL teams.
Last season Robinson had his most productive season as a professional as he set career highs in goals (31), assists (33) and points (64) while splitting time with the Stockton Thunder and Johnstown Chiefs. In last seasons playoffs Robinson put up 14 points (6-8=14) in 14 games for the Thunder.
The 27-year-old Benson has spent time in the AHL and ECHL in the last four seasons. Benson has piled up a total 1,240 PIM’s and scored 54 points (16-38=54) in 298 career games (4.2 PIM’s per game). In his two seasons in Laredo from 2004-2006 Benson amassed 429 PIM’s and picked up 27 points (8-19=27) in 113 regular season games, while scoring five points (3-2=5) and notching 47 PIM’s in 20 CHL playoff games.
