Six Thrillers in the CHL's Opening Night
The CHL’s regular season got underway on Friday night with six games and offense was not hard to come by for most teams.
Friday’s Summaries:
RiverKings 1 at Mudbugs 10
Special teams were on display as the ‘Bugs scored five power play goals and three shorthanded goals. Brett Smith had three goals and three assists and Jeff Kyrzakos also had a hat trick.
Jackalopes 3 at Mavericks 5
Ryan Jardine, Mike Wakita and Tab Lardner all had multiple-point efforts as the Mavericks won their home opener against Odessa scoring three times in the final period. Gerry Festa earned the win in net stopping 29 shots.
Brahmas 2 at Americans 5
The Americans started quick scoring three times in the first five minutes and then added a pair of goals late breaking open a close game.
Sundogs 5 at Eagles 3
The Sundogs won their opener in Colorado behind a goal and three helpers from Jason Williams and 28 saves from rookie goaltender Bobby Jarosz.
Bucks 2 at Killer Bees 4
Sean Muncy, Rob Cowan and Tyler Burton scored the game’s final three goals erasing a 2-1 Laredo lead in the third period giving the Killer Bees the home opening win. Juliano Pagliero made 29 saves earning the win.
Thunder 3 at Oilers 4
Harrison Reed of Tulsa and Jesse Bennefield of Wichita each had two-goal performances in the opener for both teams but it was Tulsa who held on for the one-goal win. Trevor Cann made 24 saves earning the win for the Oilers.
