LAREDO, TX- Mayor of Laredo Raul G. Salinas, in conjunction with the City of Laredo honored Laredo Bucks player/assistant coach Jeff Bes prior to the City Council meeting Monday night at City Hall.
Mayor Salinas, along with City Council members honored Bes for scoring his 1,000th career point, proclaiming Monday “Jeff Bes Day” in the City of Laredo. The City presented Bes with the proclamation as well as a plaque commemorating the milestone.
“Jeff, you are not only a great hockey player but you are a great individual,” Mayor Salinas said. “Whenever there is a community event I know that I will see you there trying to make a difference in our community. We are very proud that your 1,000th career point came here in Laredo.”
“I’m very humbled by this honor,” Bes said. “I want to thank Mayor Salinas, the City Council members the entire City of Laredo and Terry Ruskowski for making this so special. I truly appreciate it. It means so much to myself and my family.”
“Jeff Bes is a superstar on and off the ice,” said Ruskowski. “It’s been an honor coaching him for the last eight seasons. He’s truly a great ambassador for our team and our great City of Laredo. Very, very few people can say that they scored 1,000th career points and Jeff is one of them.”
Bes scored his 1,000th career point in the Bucks 5-2 win over Rapid City on November 5th at Laredo Energy Arena.
