Jacks Get on Track

ODESSA, TX – Sebastien Thinel, Dominic Leveille, and Todd Robinson all put together four-point games as the Odessa Jackalopes six-game winless streak came to an end on Tuesday night with a 6-3 win over the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees at the Ector County Coliseum.

Box Score

The Odessa Jackalopes had been 0-5-1 during their losing streak, but their largest offensive output of the season stopped the bleeding.  Thinel, Leveille and Robinson all had two goals and two assists in the Odessa victory.

The Killer Bees (6-4-2) recorded the first goal of the game on an awkward situation at 7:51.  Odessa’s Joel Martin appeared to have the puck covered to the right of the goal crease but the last second Sean Muncy jabbed his stick towards Martin’s glove and forced the puck free into the net for a 1-0 lead.  The Jackalopes (3-9-1) responded with two goals in final 90 seconds of the period.  Thinel’s centering pass from the right side of the net bounced of Rio Grande Valley goalie Juliano Pagliero, and Kenny Corupe slipped a shot along the end line through the netminder as well.

Robinson’s first goal of the game came on a slap shot from the right point just 1:34 into the second period, and pushed Odessa’s lead to 3-1 before Aaron Lee answered back for the Bees at 12:48.

Leveille’s first goal of the game is what opened the third period scoring just two minutes into the frame to make it 4-2, Odessa.  The Killer Bees closed the gap to one for the final time with a tally from Darcy Campbell at 5:12.  Robinson added his second of the game at 8:33 from another bad-angled shot, along the right-win boards, and Thinel added an empty-net tally in the game’s final minute for the finishing score.

The win was Odessa’s first since October 30th, where they defeated the Laredo Bucks on their home ice by a 4-2 score.  Joel Martin finished the game with 27 saves for the Jackalopes, while Juliano Pagliero put together 40 saves for the Bees.  It was Pagliero’s fourth game this season with 40 or more saves.
