If a season could ever be described as banner, Colorado rookie goaltender Tyler Weiman is surely having one. Saturday evening the first year netminder turned in his 7th shutout of the season, five ahead of six others tied with 2, as the Eagles posted a 2-0 win in Laredo. One more goose egg this season will earn Weiman a share of the CHL single season shutout record of 8, shared by Matt Barnes (Austin, 02/03) Rod Branch (Tulsa, 02/03), and Grant Sjerven (Odessa, 00/01). He has to be considered a favorite or at least a strong contender for both CHL Most Outstanding Goaltender and CHL Rookie of the Year honors while leading the CHL not only in shutouts and in wins (21), but in goals against average (1.60) and save percentage (.945), both numbers which would also rewrite the record book. Wednesday evening, Weiman was again near the center of attention as he started for the Northern Conference and made 19 saves on 21 shots as the North won a wild 14-13 shootout affair.
