With a 5-2 win in Topeka on Saturday night, the Colorado Eagles have tied one of the CHLs most prestigious records. The victory was their 12th in a row, earning them (for now) a share of the CHL record for consecutive wins. A win next Friday in Oklahoma Citys Ford Center would give them sole possession of the record, but for now they share it with Memphis (01-02), Bossier-Shreveport (98-99) and Huntsville (96-97). The Eagles last loss this season came on New Years Day, dropping a 5-4 overtime contest in Wichita. Five wins during the streak were on home ice, with seven victories in road outings. Saturdays win was typical of the Eagles firewagon brand of hockey all season long; relentless offensive pressure, plenty of scoring opportunities, and solid defensive play and goaltending. Kevin Marsh and Riley Nelson each scored twice Saturday, with Fraser Filipic also finding the back of the net, while Paulo Colaiacovo picked up his third win of both the streak and season.
