2011 CHL All-Star Captains Announced
Odessa’s Sebastien Thinel Named Team’s Captain

TEMPE, AZ (January 11, 2011) –The 2011 CHL All-Star Game is set for Wednesday night in Rapid City, South Dakota with the host Rapid City Rush taking on a team of CHL All-Stars and today the co-coaches for the CHL All-Star team, Allen’s Dwight Mullins and Missouri’s Scott Hillman, announced that Odessa’s Sebastien Thinel will be the team’s Captain and Tulsa’s Derek Eastman and Mississippi’s Nathan Lutz will serve as the games alternate captains.

Thinel is the all-star veteran for the CHL team playing in his sixth all-star game.  The St. Jerome, Quebec native is the league’s leading scorer with 58 points (18-40=58) and was the 2009 CHL Most Valuable Player and the winner of the 2009 CHL Joe Burton Scoring Championship with 97 points (38-59=97) on the season.

Eastman is in his eighth professional season and his second with the Tulsa Oilers.  The defenseman has 25 points (9-16=25) this year already matching his 2009-10 goal total of nine.  The St. Paul, Minnesota native was a member of the 2010 All-CHL Team.

Lutz is in his ninth season and first with the Mississippi RiverKings.  A majority of the Mistatim, Saskatchewan native’s career has been spent in the American Hockey League.  His 29 points (8-21=29) are second among all defensemen in the CHL.

Both Eastman and Lutz will be playing in their first CHL All-Star Game.

The game will take place at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center Arena with face-off scheduled for 6:35 PM (MST).
