Friday night was a night of comebacks in the CHL as four of the six games on the slate saw teams come from behind with third period scores to gain the victory.

The Mississippi RiverKings found themselves down 3-1 heading into the third period but a goal just 22 seconds into the final frame by Brennan Sarazin and a power play goal from Nathan Lutz at the 13:51 mark evened things up en route to a 4-3 win. The ‘Kings outshot the Oilers 51-25 as Trevor Cann made 47 saves in a losing effort. Chris Auger scored the game winner for the RiverKings with less than a minute remaining in overtime.
Maybe no comeback this season was more dramatic than the one in Fort Wayne tonight where the Komets were getting blasted by the visiting Wichita Thunder 4-0 to start the third period but goals from Bobby Phillips and Tab Lardner cut the lead in half and then with an extra attacker in the final minute of regulation the Komets would strike twice with Sean O’Connor scoring and Lardner capping off the comeback with his second of the night. Artem Podshendyalov would score the game winner in a shootout giving the Komets the 5-4 win.
The Colorado Eagles came-from-behind to win their sixth straight game but their triumph was not quite as dramatic. Sebastien Thinel scored the game’s first goal in the second period but Adam Hogg would strike twice, once in the second period and once in the third period, giving the Eagles the win and the Jacks their fifth straight loss.
In the night’s final comeback, the Arizona Sundogs ended a six-game slide by scoring twice within a minute span of the third period to erase a 3-2 deficit and come away with a 4-3 win. Karl Sellan and Luke Erickson scored the game-tying and game winning goals, respectively. Joey Sides and Joel Irving also scored goals for the ‘Dogs who end their nine-game home stand with a 3-5-1 mark.
In Friday’s other games, the Rapid City Rush used a 21-save shutout performance from Danny Battochio to beat the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees 2-0 winning their seventh straight game and the Quad City Mallards got 35 saves from Adam Russo to beat the Bloomington PrairieThunder, 3-2.
