At least one Fort Wayne Komets veteran has apparently made his choice, and the choice is this: Lace ‘em up and hit the ice for one more year.
Komets general manager David Franke said Monday that forward
P.C. Drouin has decided to play in 2011-12.
“I don’t really expect him to play beyond next year, but this is the second year of his two-year contract and P.C. has pretty much decided to finish it out,” Franke said.
Drouin had 14 goals, 44 points and a plus/minus of minus-3 in 61 games this season.
With him back in the fold, the Komets now await veteran defenseman Guy Dupuis’ decision.
Dupuis, 41, the longest-tenured Komet in club history in games played, has talked to the Komets, and both parties have agreed to put off any decision one way or another until June 1.
“Guy wanted a little time to think it over and discuss it with his family, so we’ve decided to give it until the first of June,” Franke said.
