Watching his hometown Boston Bruins hoist the National Hockey League’s Stanley Cup is proving to be an inspiration for Rapid City Rush veteran forward Brendon Hodge.
Hodge’s ties to the Bruins’ championship legacy go far deeper than his suburban Boston hometown of Lynnfield.
Hodge’s dad, Ken, won two championships with the Bruins in 1970 and 1972. Hodge wears his dad’s No. 8 for the Rush.
“A lot of people in Boston have been waiting a long time for this,” Hodge said. “Nineteen hundred seventy-two was the last time my dad’s team won the Stanley Cup, the last time Boston was able to hold it over their heads.”
