Mallards Land Defenseman Hofstetter
Gilmore Waived
MOLINE, Ill. (November 14, 2011) – The Quad City Mallards of the Central Hockey League have signed defenseman Justin Hofstetter and have waived blue liner Tyler Gilmore, the Mallards announced today.
Hofstetter, 25, started the season with the Wichita Thunder, for whom he played six games and picked up one assist while posting a plus/minus rating of +2. The Bright, Ontario native broke into professional hockey last season when he skated in the Netherlands for Herentals HYC. The 5’ 11”, 195-pound Hofstetter scored five goals and totaled 23 points in 28 games as a rookie.
“Justin’s a player who comes highly recommended and who we expect to help solidify our blue line,” said Mallards coach and general manager David Bell.
Hofstetter spent four seasons at Rochester Institute of Technology before turning pro. He scored 14 goals and produced 42 points in 133 career games at R.I.T. and also helped the Tigers to a pair of Atlantic Hockey Association regular season titles.
Gilmore notched one assist and turned in a plus/minus of -1 in eight games with the Mallards.
