Lost in the Komets’ offensive output of late – they have 18 goals during their four-game winning streak – has been how well their defense is playing.
“Yeah, defensively, we’re fourth in the league,” said coach Al Sims, whose team is giving up 2.79 goals per game, only eight in the past four games.
“We’ve come a long way since the start of the year. We’ve just improved steadily.”
The Komets have a lot of inexperience on the blue line, with rookies Bryant Molle and Tristin Llewellyn, and David Starenky, who had played only in the semipro Ligue Nord Américaine de Hockey since 2007.
