Bucks Snap Losing Streak
LAREDO, TX: The Laredo Bucks, of the Central Hockey League, defeated the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees 4-1
The Laredo Bucks faced the Rio Grande Killer Bees for the fifth time this season Friday night at the Laredo Energy Arena. The Bucks had come into the game on a four game losing streak.
The Bucks special team units saw lots of ice time during the opening frame. Adam Rivet scored a shorthanded goal at 10:54. Rivet was assisted by Rusty Masters and Matt Boyd. The Bees would battle right back and score a powerplay goal less than a minute later at 11:32, tying the game 1-1. Matt Hanson, assisted by Rusty Masters and Matt Boyd, scored a powerplay goal for the Bucks at 15:34. The first even strength goal of the game came at 19:15, when Ryan Sparling lit the lamp from Matt Boyd and David Inman. The period came to a close with the Bucks leading the Bees 3-1.
The second period of play saw lots of transition play by both teams. The Bucks had two powerplay opportunities during the period, but were unable to take advantage of them. However, the Bucks outshot the Bees 25-14 through the first two periods of play.
Kyle Sibley scored his first goal as a Laredo Buck at 4:12 in the third period. A.J. Hau and Justin Styffe had the assists. This gave the Bucks a dominating 4-1 lead. The Bucks outshot the Bees 29-27 in the game.
The Laredo Bucks will face their rivals the Rio Grande Killer Bees once again tomorrow night- Saturday, December 10th. The game will begin at 7:30pm at the Laredo Energy Arena.
