Missouri Mavericks forward Brandon Coccimiglio went from feeling his coach’s wrath in the morning to the home fans’ love in the evening – and he welcomed both.
Coccimiglio slapped in three goals during Friday’s 7-4 win over Laredo, his third hat trick in just 46 career games with the Mavericks. The second-year player also tallied hat tricks last year in the final week of the regular season, then again in the playoffs against Wichita.
While Coccimiglio and his teammates could revel in their first home victory in nearly three weeks and just their third overall, the morning workout wasn’t as pleasant.
“I screamed at him this morning,” Mavericks coach Scott Hillman said. “I singled him out, told him to shoot the bleeping puck. He had tried this soft backhand.”
