Tyler Miller is used to making transitions.
He made the move from roller hockey to ice hockey as a youngster growing up in southern California.
That’s not as easy as it may seem to the uninitiated.
“I had to learn to stop (with ice skates),” he said. “These edges are tricky. They take a lot of getting used to.
“It was funny, because I had to go to public skating to learn how to stop. I could do pretty much everything else, because it’s pretty similar to roller.”
But he did get accustomed to the new style of skating, progressing to the junior level with the British Columbia Hockey League.
The New Jersey Devils drafted him in the fourth round, 107th overall in the 2006 NHL entry draft.
