The Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs, behind a five goal outburst in the third frame, posted a 6-1 road victory over Colorado Wednesday evening in the only Central Hockey League contest on the schedule, handing the Eagles their first home loss of the season. A well played and competitive game tied 1-1 through 40 minutes, Bossier-Shreveport rattled off five straight goals in the final frame, including the last three on the power play, to earn the win. Scott Sheppard was the catalyst for the Bugs, scoring his 4th, 5th and 6th goals of the year, with red-hot Ryan Manitowich scoring twice (6th and 7th) and Chad Spurr (2nd) rounding out the scoring.
Jason Lundmark had his first of the year for Colorado, and was the only Eagle to beat Bossier-Shreveports Ken Carroll, otherwise perfect on the night with 38 saves to improve his record to 3-0-1. Paulo Colaicovo took the loss for Colorado, making 23 saves on 29 shots to drop his record to 3-2-0. Tempers flared late in the contest, setting the stage for what will likely be a fierce battle Friday evening, also at the Budweiser Events Center, between the two Northern Conference powerhouses.
