Oilers/Killer Bees Combine for Season-High 15 Goals

Box Score

The Tulsa Oilers and Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees combined for the most goals in a single CHL game this season with the Oilers beating the Bees 9-6.  The 15 total goals beat the previous high for the season of 13 goals also scored by the Oilers in a 7-6 shootout loss to Arizona (Nov. 22).

The 15 goals are the most scored in a CHL game since March 25, 2011 when Missouri beat Rio Grande Valley 10-5.

Dylan Clarke led the way for the Oilers with a hat trick (his second three goal effort of the season) giving him 20 goals on the season.

The Oilers looked as if they would run away and hide from the visiting Bees scoring the game’s first four goals.

Jeff Terminesi scored a power play goal just 3:13 into the game followed by Clarke’s first goal of the afternoon scored just seven seconds later.

David Solway and Gerome Giudice  also scored goals pushing the lead to four goals just 8:54 into the game.

The Bees would get going scoring once before the end of the first period (Dan Gendur’s power play goal) and then after Marty Standish’s goal early in the second period made the score 5-1, RGV would score the game’s next four goals tying the game at five.

Zac Pearson scored back-to-back goals followed by scores from Brandon Campos and Tomas Klempa.

Tulsa’s Mike Ullrich scored his 22nd goal of the season late in the second period regaining the lead and the momentum for the Oilers.

The two teams combined to score four times in the third period with Troy Ofukany making the score 7-5 and then after another Gendur goal, Clarke completed his hat trick (the last goal into an empty net) to finish off the game and offensive onslaught.

Ian Keserich played the entire game for the Oilers stopping 20 of 26 shots improving his record to 18-11-1.

The Bees split the goaltending duties with both Wylie Rogers and John Murray allowing four scores.

Both teams went two for three on the power play and the win pushes the Oilers lead for fourth place in the Berry Conference to three points.
