Season Series: Fort Wayne and Evansville are very familiar with each other playing 10 times heading into Saturday’s game. The Komets have won seven of the first 10 meetings with Nick Boucher going 6-2 with a shutout and Artem Podshendyalov leading the scoring with six goals and nine assists. Todd Robinson has a goal and 13 assists against the Komets.
Need to Know: Evansville is currently on the longest win streak in the CHL this season at eight straight. The IceMen are the top team in the CHL with 72 points and last night they topped the Berry Conference leaders, Wichita, by a 4-3 score. Fort Wayne won its second straight OT/SO game beating Arizona 5-4.
The Low Down: The Komets are three points behind the IceMen in the race for the top spot in the Turner Conference and Saturday is the last meeting in the regular season in E-Ville. Todd Robinson had a goal and an assist on Friday extending his point streak to 12 games and maintaining his league scoring lead with 76 points. Brian Bicek scored his league leading 32nd goal on Friday night against Wichita and he too has a 12-game point streak. Fort Wayne goalie Nick Boucher has missed the last four games due to suspension; he is eligible to return on Saturday.
Keep an Eye On: The IceMen power play, they have scored on its last six chances and nine times in their last 16 opportunities. Evansville is second in the league at 22.2% with the man advantage.
