Lubbock had let the Amarillo Gorillas pass them by in the Southwest Division standings and were down late in tonight's rivalry contest, but the Cotton Kings made a royal comeback. Mike Brolsma scored to tie the game at 4-4 with just over six minutes remaining and the two clubs had to resolve their differences in a shootout where Brolsma was the lone scorer to record the 5-4 win. The victory and the resulting two points tie the Cotton Kings with the Gorillas for second place in a tight divsion race. In other action tonight, Laredo's Dov Grumet-Morris stopped all 27 shots he faced to shut out the Austin Ice Bats in a 2-0 home win. Also skating tonight were the SteelHounds, who defended their ice winnning 3-1 behind two goals from their captian, Jeff Christian.
