Most Outstanding Goaltender Returns

(Team Press Release) The Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs of the Central Hockey League today announced the re-signing of goaltender Ken Carroll for the 2006-2007 season, which will be his sixth with the franchise. The reigning "Most Outstanding Goaltender" in the CHL is the Mudbugs' all-time leader in games played by a goaltender (191) and wins (121).

In addition to his second career Goaltender of the Year honor last season, Carroll was also selected to his third straight CHL All-Star Game, named to the 2006 All-CHL Team, and voted the CHL's "Best Goaltender" in the annual Best of the Best Poll. The Oil City, Ontario native posted a 20-7-4 record with a 2.31 goals against average and a .921 save percentage. Carroll, 29, will enter his sixth year in Bossier-Shreveport and seventh as a professional. He has recorded at least 20 wins in all five of his seasons with the Mudbugs.

"Kenny overcame some obstacles last season and again proved that he's the best goaltender in the league," said Head Coach Scott Muscutt. "He showed us why he's such a great competitor and getting him re-signed is always going to be a priority. It's great to have him back and he's once again going to be the foundation for our team."

Carroll joined the Mudbugs in the 2000-01 campaign and recorded a career-high 27 wins while guiding the franchise to its third straight President's Cup championship. He was named the 2001 WPHL Goaltender and Rookie of the Year and was selected to play in the first of his five career All-Star Games. In all-time CHL/WPHL history, Carroll is sixth in wins (121) and is tied for second in shutouts (19).

"It's an honor to be back in Bossier-Shreveport and I'm really looking forward to this season," said Carroll. "The organization and community have always treated me so well and I know we'll have a chance to compete for a championship again, so I'm excited to be back."

Carroll joins veteran forward Dan Wildfong and defenseman Konrad Brand as the first three members of the 2006-2007 Mudbugs squad.

The Mudbugs are currently preparing for their 10th anniversary season, which will begin in October and will feature the 2007 Central Hockey League All-Star Game at the CenturyTel Center on January 17, 2007.
