06-07 CHL Schedule Released

The 2006-2007 Central Hockey League schedule has been announced, with the 544-game season beginning on Friday, October 20th in five locations, and concluding on Sunday, March 25th with another five contests. Two thirds of the CHL schedule will take place on prime weekend dates, with 363 games scheduled on either Fridays or Saturdays, and the campaign focuses heavily on geographic and natural rivalries, with nearly 49% all contests featuring divisional play.

The defending Ray Miron President’s Cup Champion Laredo Bucks will begin their season with a visit to Corpus Christi’s American Bank Center on Saturday, October 21st, and will also serve as the opponents for the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs home opener on Thursday October 26th in an early season rematch of last season’s Finals. The Bucks will receive their championship rings at home two nights later, hosting the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees on October 28th at the Laredo Entertainment Center. The Arizona Sundogs and Rocky Mountain Rage, 06-07 CHL expansion clubs, will begin their inaugural seasons on the road, as will the New Mexico Scorpions, back in action after a one-year hiatus. All three clubs will open new home facilities this fall. Arizona and Rocky Mountain begin play October 20th (Arizona visits Rio Grande Valley, Rocky Mountain plays at Colorado) while New Mexico opens the following evening in Amarillo.

New Mexico hosts Arizona on Friday, October 27th in the first ever contest at the Santa Ana Star Center, while the Sundogs and Rage will both play their home openers on Friday, November 10th, with Arizona welcoming the Youngstown SteelHounds to the Prescott Valley Convention and Events Center and Rocky Mountain hosting the Tulsa Oilers in the first ever contest at the Broomfield Event Center. The best of the Central Hockey League will convene in Louisiana on Wednesday, January 17th as the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs play host the 2007 CHL All-Star Game.

The CHL will begin celebration of its 15th season of play this October, welcoming three clubs joining the League in new state-of-the-art arenas for the 2006-2007 season. The expansion Arizona Sundogs (Prescott Valley Convention & Events Center) and Rocky Mountain Rage (Broomfield Event Center) will open new facilities this fall along with the New Mexico Scorpions, returning from a one year hiatus in conjunction with the opening of the Santa Ana Star Center. The CHL has led all of ‘AA’ professional hockey in average attendance for the past five consecutive seasons of play.
