The two hottest teams in the CHL met Sunday in Amarillo, with both the Gorillas and Colorado Eagles looking to extend four game winning streaks. Behind 50 saves from Jamie Vandespyker and three power play goals, Amarillo cruised to a 7-1 victory. Seven different Gorillas scored, including Bill Vandermeer, who potted his 24th of the season and added a pair of assists.
Riley Nelson accounted for the only Colorado goal, scoring his 31st of the season. His tally came shorthanded, giving the Eagles 27 scores this season while killing penalties and a share of the all-time CHL record for team shorthanded goals in a season, previously recorded by Dallas during the 1993-1994 season.
