2005-2006 CHL Most Valuable Player Derek Hahn has been selected as the Oakley Player of the Week for Week 22 of the CHL season after rejoining the Amarillo Gorillas and posting eight points in three wins to help his club clinch their fifth consecutive playoff berth.
Hahn rejoined the Gorillas Friday after playing the majority of the season in Denmark, where he recorded 51 points in 35 Danish League contests. His impact was felt immediately, scoring twice and assisting on Bill Vandermeers power play game winning goal in a 6-2 home win over Oklahoma City. He also scored twice the following evening, including the game winning shootout goal in a 5-4 (SO) home victory over New Mexico that earned the Gorillas a post-season berth for the fifth straight season.
He wrapped up his weekend with another multiple point outing, assisting on three of Amarillos four goals in a 4-3 road win in Oklahoma City. Hahn led the CHL with 114 points last season to earn MVP honors, and was also named Rookie of the Year in the 2002-2003 season after a 25 goal, 27 assist first professional season with Amarillo.
