Mudbugs Keep Climbing in the Standings with 2-1 Win over Wichita
The strong play continues for the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs (7-6-2) who once again turned in a solid defensive performance in a 2-1 home ice victory over the Wichita Thunder (3-10-0) on Thursday night at the CenturyTel Center. Ken Carroll made 26 saves improving his record to 2-3-1 on the season and seeing his record over his last four games move to 2-1-1. The win moved the Mudbugs over .500 for the first time this season.
Joe Ori broke a tie late in the third period with just 2:40 remaining giving him a team leading eight goals of the season. The Mudbugs took a 1-0 lead in the second period with Daniel Pegoraro’s fourth goal of the season. Wichita came out in the third period and applied some pressure and eventually broke up the shutout with Kyle Bruce scoring his second goal of the season at the 3:00 mark of the final frame.
The Mudbugs outshot the Thunder 31-27 as Sebastien Laplante took the loss falling to 2-5-0. The loss was the fifth in the last six games for the Thunder and it keeps the team winless on the road at 0-6-0 this season.
With the win, Bossier-Shreveport is 5-0 in their last five games at the CenturyTel Center allowing just two goals over that stretch. The’Bugs play the Northeast Division leading Youngstown SteelHounds (13-2-1) Friday night at home.
