OAKLEY CENTRAL HOCKEY LEAGUE GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK ANNOUNCED
The Central Hockey League announced today that the recipients for the Oakley CHL Goaltender of the Week for the period ending December 16th, 2007 is Jason Tapp of the Corpus Christi Rayz.
Tapp went 2-1-0 on the week and saw more shots than any other CHL goaltender over the past seven days. In his past three games, the Kelowna, British Columbia native saw 128 shots and turned away 121 of them (.945 save percentage). On Thursday, Tapp helped carry the Rayz to a 5-2 victory over the red-hot Arizona Sundogs. In the game, Tapp turned away 58 shots including 22 in the third period. The only goals allowed were both yielded on the Sundogs power play. Tapp’s other victory came on Saturday in a 2-1 victory over Austin where he turned away 35 shots. For the season, the former Boston University netminder leads the league with 1236:25 minutes played, 653 saves and four shootout wins.
In recognition of his achievement, Tapp will receive a special gift from Oakley.
