Eagles Rebound at Home for 6-3 Win Versus the Rage
The Colorado Eagles (27-13-5) defeated the Rocky Mountain Rage (30-12-4) in a must-win game on Wednesday at the sold-out Budweiser Events Center by a final score of 6-3. Newly acquired Kris Wiebe led the way scoring a pair of goals in the win for the shorthanded Eagles who dressed just 13 skaters. Riley Nelson also scored two goals (including a penalty shot) and goaltender Bryan Bridges made 28 saves moving to 7-2-2 on the season. Rocky Mountain won at home last night in the first of the home-and-home series by a score of 5-3.
The Rage, who trailed 3-1 after two periods, battled back to make it a one-goal game on two occasions (at 3-2 and 4-3) but two goals in the final 50 seconds by the Eagles sealed the deal. Daymen Rycroft scored his league-leading 38th goal of the season (ninth versus Colorado) in the loss.
Scott Reid takes the loss and wasn’t around to finish the game as he was dealt a game misconduct in the third period after Nelson’s penalty shot. He falls to 20-8-3 with the loss.
With the win, the Eagles climb back to within five points of first place in the Northwest Division.
