The Sundogs took a 4-0 lead and held on giving them sole possession of first place in the SW Division. Three defensemen found the back of the net (Chris Bartolone, Dan Laperriere and David Schlemko) and Marco Emond made 34 saves winning his first start with the Sundogs. The team play again tomorrow night in the re-match.
New Mexico 1 @ Texas 4
David Cacciola made 28 saves winning for the fifth time in his last six games as the Brahmas win their fifth straight game and pull to within three points of a playoff spot. Tyler Skworchinski and Blair Manning each had a goal and an assist. The loss for New Mexico ended a six-game win streak.
Oklahoma City 2 @ Youngstown 4
Kevin Beech made 39 saves winning his second straight start for the Hounds who improve to 5-0 all-time in the Chevrolet Centre versus the Blazers. Newcomers Anthony Becker and Ryan Bennett each scored their first goals of the season for Youngstown.
Odessa 0 @ Bossier-Shreveport 9
The Mudbugs rebounded with vengeance after losing back-to-back games to Texas by pounding the Jackalopes. Brett Smith scored four goals and had an assist and Ken Carroll made 21 saves earning his fourth shutout of the season and the 25th of his record-setting CHL career (most career shutouts). Mike Gorman took the medicine for the Jacks allowing all nine goals.
Tulsa 10 @ Mississippi 3
Jeff Christian had two goals and three assists in the Oilers road win at Mississippi. David Beauregard and Paul Kelly each chipped in with four points. Ryan Campbell took over the league lead with a pair of shorthanded goals giving him seven on the season. Mississippi has lost three straight games.
Colorado 3 @ Wichita 6
Jon Horrell stopped 45 shots winning for the first time since Dec. 14th (11 straight losses) and Brad Thompson scored twice dealing a blow to the Eagles who looked to pull closer than their current five-point margin for the NW Division lead. Seth Leonard had two goals and an assist in the loss.
Rio Grande Valley 5 @ Austin 2
The Killer Bees ended a six-game losing streak and snapped a three-game Ice Bats winning streak with the road win. It is just the third road victory of the season for RGV. David Lemanowicz made 53 saves in the victory.
Laredo 6 @ Corpus Christi 3
Jeff Bes had a hat trick and an assist becoming the first CHL player to 80 points on the season (36-46=82) and Chris Korchinski scored a pair of goals for the Bucks. The Rayz fall for the fourth straight time (0-3-1). Laredo finished 3 for 5 on the power play.
