Brahmas Push Series to Deciding Game With Shutout Win

North Richland Hills, TX – The Texas Brahmas played their first home playoff game since 2002 and to top that in a must-win game. The difference in the game was the insertion of Brett Jaeger as the starting goaltender who was outstanding making 23 saves earning the shutout. Jaeger was signed at the mid-point of the season and won 13 games but never recorded a shutout. The 3-0 win by Texas pushes the series to a deciding game three on Thursday night at the NYTEX Sports Centre.
The Brahmas scored a goal in each period with Greg McConnell scoring in the first period earning the game winner. Grant Jacobsen and Scott Sheppard each scored power play goals as the Brahmas went 2 for 11 with the man advantage (3 for 19 in the series).
Texas outshot the RiverKings 30-23 allowing just four shots on goal in the final period. Sebastien Centomo made 27 saves taking the loss for Mississippi falling to 1-1 in the series.
Frustration got to the RiverKings in the third period as Jason Lawmaster was given a game misconduct leading the Mississippi charge fo 40 penalty minutes compared to 16 for Texas.
The win is the first playoff win for Texas’ Dan Wildfong as a head coach.
Next Game: The Brahmas and RiverKings will meet in the third and deciding game of their best-of-three series on Thursday night (March 27th) in North Richland Hills with face-off scheduled for 7:05 PM (CST). All the action can be seen on the CHL Network.
