Kevin Kaminski Named RiverKings Head Coach

Kaminski to Coach RiverKings

(Southaven, Mississippi) – He patrolled the visitors’ bench at the DeSoto Civic Center for the past two seasons, but Kevin Kaminski will now be calling the DCC his new hockey home. Maddox Hockey, Inc. is pleased to announce the hiring of Kaminski as the new head coach of the Mississippi RiverKings of the Central Hockey League, effective immediately.

“It’s an honor to be part of the RiverKings family,” said Kaminski. “I am looking forward to the challenge of bringing championship hockey back to Mississippi, and my family is excited about moving to the DeSoto County area.”

Kaminski has coached the CHL Northeast Division rival Youngstown Steelhounds to a 73-40-15 overall regular season record the past two seasons. Under his leadership, the Steelhounds advanced into the playoffs in both seasons he coached there.

“Coach Kaminski has proven during his tenure at Youngstown that he expects to win every time his team takes the ice,” said Dave “Ab” Mattice, Director of Business Operations for Maddox Hockey. “We believe that he will recruit and field a highly competitive RiverKings team that will quickly become one of championship caliber.”

“It’s going to be awesome to have here him coaching the RiverKings,” said team captain Derek Landmesser. “He has a no-nonsense style of coaching, he believes in playing hard-nosed aggressive hockey, and his record at Youngstown speaks for itself. I look forward to playing for him.”

“We welcome Coach Kaminski to the RiverKings organization,” said Robin Costa, President of Maddox Foundation and Maddox Hockey, Inc. “His energy and dedication to hockey is matched by his ability to build the community partnerships which are a major goal of our organization. He and his family will be assets to our team and our community.”

A “Meet the Coach” event will be scheduled as soon as Kaminski travels to DeSoto County. “While it may take a few weeks to get Coach Kaminski settled, he has already begun recruiting players for the upcoming season,” said Mattice. “Announcements with regard to player signings will be made over the next several weeks.”
