RGV YOUTH HOCKEY TEAMS BATTLE IN DALLAS TOURNAMENT
HIDALGO, TEXAS --- The Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees of the Central Hockey League (CHL) today announced that the RGV Youth Hockey Association’s s Bantam and Midget teams competed in a travel tournament in Dallas over Labor weekend.
Since the arrival of the Killer Bees in 2003, youth hockey has grown exponentially in the area. Although many of the local youth hockey players had never laced up skates before, the competitive level has grown each year. The RGV Youth Hockey Association offers house league and competitive travel programs while The Junior Killer Bees Hockey program competes in the travel-based South Texas Youth Hockey League.
“Our players never were concerned with the scores,” Cesar Cepeda, RGV Youth Hockey Association league coordinator, explained. “They gained the experience to play with much more superior teams (A & AA) and the desire to keep developing their skills. We proudly represented the "Killer Bees" logo on our jerseys and we’ve received many emails, calls and comments from several coaches and league directors. They appreciated to the effort to drive a long way and play against them for three days, knowing that our level is still in developmental process.”
