Corpus Christi center Chris Page has been selected as Bauer/Nike Central Hockey League Player of the Week and Wichita netminder Nathan Grobins has been tabbed the Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the Week for Week 9 of the CHL season. Page figured in on all five Corpus Christi regulation goals during a pair of victories, while Grobins allowed just a single goal against while posting two wins for the Thunder.
Page had a significant impact on Corpus Christi playing in just his third and fourth games of the season with the club. Signed on December 5th, the center led the Rayz to back-to-back home wins on December 12th and 13th against Southeast Division rivals Austin and Laredo. The Drummondville, Quebec native had a pair of goals (one shorthanded) and an assist in a 4-3 shootout win over Austin, then posted a the game winning goal and added an assist in a 2-0 shutout of Laredo the following night, helping put an end to the Bucks 10-game winning streak.
Wichita goaltender Grobins had a pair of outstanding starts in leading the Thunder to consecutive wins over the weekend. Friday in Colorado, he made 43 saves in a 3-1 victory over the Eagles, then helped to blank the Memphis RiverKings 5-0 Saturday in Wichita. For the week, Grobins sported a 98.4 save percentage, and picked up his first shutout of the season. Grobins earns Goaltender of the Week honors for the second time this season, also named the recipient in Week 5 as a member of the Memphis RiverKings prior to a subsequent trade to Wichita on November 19th.
