Rookie forward Cam Doull provided all the offense the Blazers would need in their 2-1 win over the Texas Brahmas last Friday at the NYTEX Sports Center in North Richland Hills, Texas.
OKC/Texas Box Score
Doull continued his hot play with a two-goal first period. Ted Vandermeer worked the puck from the corner to Doull who was stationed in front of Brahmas netminder David Cacciola. Doull was able to shovel the puck past him. Late in the first, Brian Passmore and Jeff MacDermid combined to have Doull pot his second of the frame with a long-range blast
Doull has earned a regular shift and has made the most of it. He has five goals in his last three games after recording one in his first 10. That includes back-to-back two-goal games against the Texas Brahmas.
Greg McConnell drew the Brahmas to within one with a deflection of a Grant Jacobson shot from the right-wing boards. McConnell positioned himself in front of Blazers starter Doug Gronestege and was able to tip it by at the 7:24 mark of the third.
Texas pulled the goaltender in favor of an extra attacker with under a minute to play, but were unable to find a quality shot on goal.
Gronestege made his fifth appearance in the last five Blazers games. Since making his first start of the season November 20, He has played all but 11 minutes of that five-game stretch. Andy Franck played the first 11 minutes of the Blazers game November 22 before coming out of the game with an injury. He made 20 saves to improve to 5-0-0 on the season.
The win for Oklahoma City improves their record to 14-1-2. The Blazers have handed the Brahmas their only losses in their last eight games.
