Linus Fagemo Signs Heads to Arizona


SUNDOGS ADD FORWARD LINUS FAGEMO TO MIX
Veteran of 11 Seasons in Swedish and German Elite Leagues

PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. – The Arizona Sundogs, in preparation for the upcoming 2009-10 Central Hockey League season, announced today they have agreed to terms with veteran forward Linus Fagemo (LEE-ness fag-UH-moh). The 2009-10 season will be Fagemo’s first in North America.

Fagemo, 32, most recently played as a teammate of recently-signed Sundogs forward Steve Potvin in the top league in Denmark with the Herning Blue Fox. During the 2007-08 season, Fagemo helped Herning to the league championship recording 50 points (21g/29a) in 42 games. He added 15 points (7g/8a) in 14 playoff contests en route to the title. In 2008-09 with Herning, Fagemo recorded career highs in goals (27), assists (30) and points (57).

The Trollhattan, Sweden, native is a veteran of 11 seasons in the Swedish (SEL) and German (DEL) Elite Leagues. In 443 regular season games over ten seasons in the SEL, Fagemo tallied 95 goals, 57 assists and 229 penalty minutes (PIM). In one season in the DEL in 2005-06, the 6-foot, 198-pound forward added nine goals, 22 assists and 61 PIM in 41 contests.

“Linus has not only played in the top leagues in Europe, but he has excelled while doing so,” said Sundogs Head Coach and General Manager Marco Pietroniro. “It isn’t a mistake that he played in the Swedish and German Elite Leagues for 11 seasons. He comes highly recommended and we’re pleased to have him on board for the 2009-10 season.”

In 484 total regular season games as a pro, Fagemo has accumulated 104 goals, 79 assists and 290 PIM.

Prior to turning pro, Fagemo played three seasons of junior hockey with Frolunda HC, the same club for which he played four seasons in the SEL. In 63 junior contests Fagemo collected 27 goals, 25 assists and 63 PIM. He also played for his native Sweden in the 1997 World Junior Championships, tallying one goal, one assist and four PIM in six contests.
