Dunn Scores Two, Jacks Win 4-3
Thinel Extends Point Streak to Nine Games
(Prescott Valley, AZ) – Odessa’s Alex Dunn scored a pair of goals and Sebastien Thinel extended his point streak to a team-high nine games on Tuesday night as the Odessa Jackalopes edged the Arizona Sundogs, 4-3, at Tim’s Toyota Center.
The win improves Odessa’s record to 37-9-4 and leaves them one point away from wrapping up a playoff spot.
Dunn’s second goal of the game proved to be the game-winner on a breakaway at 2:08 of the third period. It was also a power play goal. His first goal gave Odessa a 3-2 lead at 13:39 of the second period, again with the man-advantage.
Arizona opened up the game’s scoring with the only goals of the first period. Mike Nesdill and Marc Belanger each scored power play goals to give the Sundogs a 2-0 lead.
The Jackalopes answered back with three unanswered in the second period, sparked by Mike Ramsay’s power play goal from the point at 3:56 from Dominic Leveille and Alex Dunn. Collin Circelli then scored on a rebound at 9:16 before Dunn gave Odessa the lead on a cross-ice feed from Thinel.
Arizona’s Torren Delforte also scored in the third period at 6:30 to cut into Odessa’s lead and cement the final score.
Joel Martin stopped 32 shots in net to earn his 19th win of the season.
Ramsay’s goal gives him 13 in the last nine games for the Jackalopes. Odessa finishes the season going 8-0-1 against Arizona in nine overall meetings.
The Jackalopes can clinch a playoff spot if the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees lose to Laredo on Thursday night. Either a regulation or overtime/shootout loss will punch Odessa’s ticket to the postseason. If Rio Grande Valley wins on Thursday, Odessa can clinch with a win on Friday.
