Jackalopes Sending Five Players to AHL Camp
Odessa’s Training Camp Scheduled to Begin October 1st
ODESSA, TX – The Odessa Jackalopes announced today that five of their players will be attending training camp with the AHL’s Bridgeport Sound Tigers. Bridgeport and Odessa are both affiliates of the NHL’s New York Islanders.
Joel Martin, Marc-Antoine Gelinas, Pierre-Olivier Beaulieu, Brady Leisenring, and Jean Bourbeau will all be skating with the Sound Tigers over the next two weeks.
Martin is currently the reigning CHL’s Most Outstanding Goaltender after a 27-6-2 mark last year with a 2.50 GAA and a .918 Save Percentage. Previously in his career Martin has appeared in four games at the AHL level.
Gelinas (JEL-ih-nuh) is a 21-year-old rookie goaltender who has spent the last four years playing in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.
Beaulieu is another newcomer to the Jackalopes who is about to enter his fifth professional season. He previously skated with current Jacks’ forwards Kenny Bernard and Mike Ramsay for the Fresno Falcons of the ECHL.
Leisenring already has 30 AHL games on his resume from prior seasons. The Vermont native has spent the last three years playing overseas in Germany.
Though he spent last season with the Jackalopes, Bourbeau is currently on a two-way contract with the Sound Tigers. This will be his third straight training camp in Bridgeport.
