The CHL’s trade deadline came and went today at 3:00 PM CST with little activity but some teams made some moves and two deals were made completing previous trades this season.
The busiest mover was the Evansville IceMen who if the playoffs were to begin today would be on the outside looking in. The IceMen traded their leading goal scorer, veteran Damian Surma (22 goals), to the Dayton Gems in exchange for rookie forward Erik Boisvert and future considerations.
Evansville also traded defenseman Tom Galvin to the Bloomington PrairieThunder for defenseman Jamie Lovell and finally the IceMen sent defensemen George Bradley to the Texas Brahmas to complete the deal made in January that landed goaltender Jeff Harvey in Evansville.
The Arizona Sundogs acquired maybe the most interesting player to move on trade-day in forward Craig Macdonald. The sniper scored 44 goals last season with Bloomington and has been an annual force among the point leaders but this season has seen him battle injuries and score just three times in 30 games. He’ll join an already talented group of forwards in Arizona while forward Jason Williams and defenseman Billy Bezeau head to Bloomington.
The final player moving was Texas defenseman Steven Later who was moved to the Missouri Mavericks to complete a previous deal (Sean Muncy).
